A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR I most sincerely wish it were possible for me to give this invitation in person, but such is physically impossible for me at this time. Please know that it is a!ways a distinct joy to have you in any of our services, and I want you to know that any time I can help you or yours it will be a genuine joy for me to have the privilege. If you feel a need of knowing more about the Lord and His revealed will, you will find a place of delight and profit in our services which are devoted to the ministry of God's Word. We are not concerned with fun and frolic at our church. We do not assemble to play and party; we come to pray and preach Christ to an eternity-bound people. We believe that Christ saved people by the preaching of the gospel, not games and gimmicks. For all matters of faith and practice we appeal to the Holy Bible. We desire to be like the noble Bereans of the New Testament who daily searched the Scriptures (Acts 17:11). We encourage you to come and search the Scriptures with us. An opened Bible is a common sight in our church. If you would care to know more about our church, please come and investigate its services. A free copy of our Articles of Faith, Constitution and By-Laws can be had upon request. A FEW FACTS ABOUT OUR CHURCH Our church was organized on January 29, 1989, by the Berea Baptist Church, South Point, OH. Since our beginning we have seen untold blessings from our God. He has made it possible for us to have many ways of getting out the gospel by means of our missionaries, our paper, our bookstore, our printing ministry, and the radio waves. Presently our 30-minute Sunday broadcasts can be heard on eight radio stations in the U.S.A. and on two stations in the Philipines. We love reason, but we are not Rationalists. We enjoy society, but we are not Socialists. We love the moral law of God, but we are not Legalists, as that would deprive us of the greater things of grace. We beiieve in God, but we are not Deists. We believe in the Holy Spirit, but we are not Spiritualists. We believe in the restitution of all things, but we are not Universalists. We believe in the second advent of Christ, but we are not Adventists. We believe in predestination, but we are not Presbyterians. We believe in congregationalism, but we are not Congregationalists. We believe in Divine soverignty, but we are not Hardshells. We believe in good works, but we are not Arminians. We believe in purity, but we are not Puritans. We believe in methods, but we are not Methodists. We believe in independency, but we are not Independents. We believe in episcopacy, but we are not Episcopalians. We believe in human instrumentality, but we are not Sandemanians. We believe in free grace, but we are not Calvinists. We believe in baptism, and therefore we are Baptists. THE BEREA BAPTIST BANNER Our church publishes a paper, The Berea Baptist Banner, which has a national circulation. It makes monthly doctrinal, evangelistic and missionary trips into all fifty states and into about thirty foreign countries. It is devoted exclusively to the presentation of all the truth of God's Word and news of interest to Christians. It contains 20 pages of well-prepared material. Positively, The Berea Baptist Banner is a champion of the doctrines of grace, a defender of the local church, a protector of the infallibility of the Bible, an advocator of premillennialism, and a teacher of the whole counsel of God. It stands without apology for the age-old doctrines of our Baptist people across the centuries. Negatively, the BBB opposes Arminianism, Feminism, Ecumenicalism, Universal Churchisms Neo-orthodoxy, Hardshellism, Amillennialism, Mission Boards, Modernism, Extremism, Liberalism, and all things which are not in harmony with the Word of God. Evangelistically, we believe that the gospel is to be preached to all men without exception. We teach it is the duty of sinners to repent and believe the gospel. We desire to preach the whole gospel to the whole world before He comes. The subscription price of our paper is $3 a year. Sample copies will be sent free upon request. Send all subscriptions and requests to Berea Baptist Church, PO Box 39, Mantachie, MS 38855. OUR MISSION WORK The Berea Baptist Church is a Missionary Baptist Church in profession and practice. We support a number of missionaries in the U.S. and in foreign countries. Our church sponsors the missionary work of Elder Ray Bennett in Ithica, New York. All work is carried on under the authority of our church. This is the Bible way and the historic Baptist way of doing missionary work. Brother Bennett is living proof that a mission board is not essential to doing mission work. If you desire more information about our missionary please write to us Berea Baptist Church, PO Box 39, Mantachie, MS 38855. The Berea Baptist Church believes that the mission of a New Testament Baptist church is missions. We must either be a missionary force or become a missionary field. A WORD TO SINNERS AIl men are sinners. "For there is no man that sinneth not" (I Kings 8:46). "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). * * * * * Jesus Christ died for sinners. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). * * * * * Jesus Christ came to save sinners: "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..." (I Tim. 1:15). Christ Himself said: "I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Matt. 9: 13). * * * * * Jesus Christ saves sinners who repent of their sins. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out..." (Acts 3:19). * * * * * Jesus Christ saves those sinners who repent and believe the gospel: "Repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house" (Acts 16:31). * * * * * Those sinners who are saved by the grace of Christ are to be baptized and become members of a New Testament Baptist Church: "Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls" (Acts 2:41 ). * * * * * Church members should be faithful to attend the services of the church they are a member. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" (Heb. 10:25). |
